Neuchâtel ist die Hauptstadt des Schweizer Kantons Neuchâtel am Neuenburgersee. Die Stadt wird historisch manchmal mit dem deutschen Namen Neuenburg bezeichnet, was die gleiche Bedeutung hat, da sie ursprünglich zum Heiligen Römischen Reich und später zu Preußen gehörte, das das Gebiet bis 1848 regierte. Sie müssen unbedingt das alte Schloss von Neuchâtel, die historische Innenstadt, die sogenannte "Eglise Rouge", die Rote Kirche, und das alte Château besuchen, das auf einem kleinen Hügel im Zentrum der Stadt liegt und das Parlament des Kantons Neuchâtel sowie eine alte mittelalterliche Kathedrale beherbergt. Das Château liegt auch mitten in der Altstadt der Stadt, die viele jahrhundertealte gelbe Sandsteingebäude und schmale Kopfsteinpflasterstraßen aufweist. Ebenso dominiert eine große rote katholische Kirche die Skyline des nordöstlichen Neuchâtel.
