About the destination: Kathmandu is the historically rich capital and largest city of Nepal. The majority of Nepal's cultural hubs are centered around the Kathmandu valley, a valley steeped in thousands of years of history. Walking around Kathmandu is akin to wandering through an open-air museum, with majestic temples and captivating unique Nepali architecture. Durbar Square provides an excellent representation of Nepal's architecture and culture. Located in the heart of Kathmandu, Durbar Square is packed with palaces and temples, including remarkable ancient temples like the Taleju Temple, a royal palace, and the intriguing Kumari Palace. Visit Swayambhunath where the Monkey Temple stands tall overlooking Kathmandu. Even more awe-inspiring is the massive Boudha Stupa in Boudha, one of the holiest sites for Tibetan Buddhism. The Hindu Temple at Pashupatnath provides a good insight into Hinduism in Kathmandu. Here, you will witness the large fires for cremations on the banks of the Baghmati River. Head to Thamel for restaurants, bars, and shops. Nepal's most cosmopolitan city has a lot to offer, and it also serves as an ideal starting point to explore the rest of this enchanting and intriguing country.

About the destination: Dhulikhel is a municipality in the Kavrepalanchowk District of Nepal. Two major highways, the B.P. Highway and the Arniko Highway, pass through Dhulikhel. The Arniko Highway connects Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city, with Kodari, a border town in Tibet. Dhulikhel is located on the eastern edge of the Kathmandu Valley, south of the Himalayas, at an elevation of 1,550 meters (about 5,085 feet) above sea level. It is situated 30 kilometers (about 19 miles) southeast of Kathmandu and 74 kilometers (about 46 miles) southwest of Kodari. The majority of people in Dhulikhel are Newars, but Brahmins, Chhetris, Tamangs, and Dalits also live in the outskirts of the town. The drinking water in Dhulikhel is considered some of the best in Nepal, thanks to a project supported by the German NGO, German Technical Cooperation.
